More Island Life : Ko Kradan
Visiting undeveloped and tourist-free Thai islands seems to be my adventure of choice at the moment, and not wanting to be left out, Ko Kradan came-a-calling! Many have argued that it is the most beautiful island in Trang – due to its isolation, the bright blue-green crystal clear waters and the white sand beaches. Situated just south of Ko Mook and Ko Ngai, Ko Kradan is a tiny island, protected from mass development due to its location within the Hat Chao Mai National Park.
Getting back to the isolation part, many choose to visit Ko Kradan on a day trip from Ngai or Mook, sometimes even from Lanta, but to really appreciate this wonderful island, you need to stay for a few days. The only thing to do here (excluding photography of course) is fill your days lying in the sun and swimming in the most tranquil of waters, making it a great destination for those who need a break from the world, or for those who need to learn how to truly do nothing (which is much harder than it sounds…)!
For those of you thinking about adding Ko Kradan to your list of possible holiday locations, be aware that there are no villages here, no ATM’s, no roads and no nightlife – so the only other people you’ll meet here are other travellers, resort workers, long-tail boat drivers and a few friendly beach dogs. The silence however is worth some small sacrifices I think!
Enough talk, time for some photos, hopefully the following will give you a glimpse into paradise and convince you that you need to get yourself on this island as soon as you can…
