A Day in the Studio

As a travel photographer I spend 99% of my time walking around in cities and through crowds finding what I feel best represents that particular location, be it the people, the architecture or the natural landscape. However, it’s nice every now and again to step into a studio and simply take photographs of the person stood in front of you, focusing more on posing and lighting techniques.

I always try to capture colour and vibrancy when taking travel photographs and so this was my main focus for the studio shoot, and as my favourite colour, in true girlie fashion, is pink I thought this was a good starting point. With this in mind I bought a bright pink background and made the decision to have white as the only other colour in the shots. My model for the day was my beautiful little sister who thoughtfully brought some shockingly pink lipstick with her to complete the look.

The result was some extremely striking images with an edgy twist; hopefully you’ll all like them as much as I do!

Sadly this will be my last studio shoot this year as the remaining months are all booked up with either assignments or stock gathering travel. I’m sure when I next get back to the UK I’ll line up a few more shoots so this won’t be the last studio based shots you see from me!
